We went hiking last weekend! Well, after getting lost a few times...
If you decide to go hiking here, please let me know so you don't drive off a cliff. Not that we did. But it could have happened. Really.
After that.. we found our way and had a really great afternoon. More hikes are in our future, for sure.
I had to buy some shoes for the adventure.. turns out I didn't have any tennis shoes anymore?
The first waterfall. It's funny. After living and hiking in Oregon.. they just seemed so small and unimposing. BUT, the hike was great.. and a definite adventure.
The second waterfall.. you could hike up to the top and see where the water fell off.
We had to climb up this narrow steep path with the assistance of a rope to see the last two falls.. I wasn't expecting to be doing any mountain climbing, but it definitely paid off to go all the way to the top. And, it wasn't actually as difficult as it looks. I only fell a few times.
And it was beautiful! The last waterfall was really sort of a magical little spot.. Trickling down.. It was really something.
In order to take the pictures, I needed the boy to help me pull a huge tree branch out of the way :)
On our way out, we found this crazy big tree.. and decided it was the perfect place to take a little break.

And this was waiting for us at the bottom.. That's really one of the greatest things about California isn't it? Enjoying the mountains and the ocean in the same afternoon?
so............. where else can we hike?
